Terms of service
Last updated 10 October 2026
Draft for review. The bracketed details are still to be filled in, and this text has not yet been reviewed by counsel.
These terms govern your use of FlarePath, an air-accident investigation research service at flarepath.coralcomp.com. FlarePath is provided by [CoralComp's registered company name], trading as CoralComp, of [Registered office address] (“we”, “us”). When you use FlarePath you contract with us. By creating an account or continuing to use the service you agree to these terms. If you use it for an organisation, you confirm you may bind that organisation to them.
Who sells to you
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle handles order and payment enquiries and refunds; we handle everything about the service itself. Card purchases are also governed by Paddle’s buyer terms. Academic and Agency plans may instead be invoiced by us directly under a written order; where they are, that order and these terms apply.
What the service is
FlarePath assembles public records published by the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB): accident reports, docket documents, decoded flight data recorder tables, published cockpit voice recorder transcripts, photographs and safety recommendations. It adds tools to read, search, compare and annotate them.
- The record is the NTSB’s, shown as published. We do not correct, clean or complete it, and we do not guarantee that it is accurate, complete or current. The NTSB’s own publications are the authority.
- Not a finding of fault. Investigations under ICAO Annex 13 exist to prevent accidents, not to apportion blame or liability. Nothing in FlarePath is a determination of cause or fault, and NTSB reports may not be admitted as evidence in civil actions for damages (49 U.S.C. § 1154(b)). Do not present FlarePath output as evidence.
- The Analyst and other tools find and arrange material from the record; they do not reach conclusions. Conclusions you draw are yours.
- No cockpit audio. FlarePath never publishes or synthesises cockpit voice recorder audio. It shows only transcripts the NTSB has released.
- Photographs carry their source and licence; respect them when you reuse an image.
Accounts and workspaces
Each account belongs to a workspace for one organisation. Workspace administrators approve and remove members and may see the workspace’s notes. Keep your password to yourself and tell us at once if you think your account has been used without your permission. You must be at least 18 to hold an account.
Your content
Notes, bookmarks and other material you add (“your content”) remain yours or your organisation’s. You give us permission to store, process and display your content only to provide the service to your workspace. A share link shows a read-only copy of a casebook to anyone who has the link, until you revoke it.
Acceptable use
You must not use FlarePath to break the law; to harass, defame or exploit anyone, including people involved in an accident or their families; to commit fraud or send spam; to infringe anyone’s intellectual property; or to interfere with the service’s security, including probing for vulnerabilities, distributing malware, bulk scraping or bypassing plan limits.
Plans, payment and renewal
The plans and their prices are on the plans page. Paid plans bought by card are subscriptions billed monthly or yearly in advance by Paddle, and renew automatically for the same period until cancelled. Prices exclude taxes; Paddle adds the sales tax, VAT or GST that applies where you are. You may cancel at any time from Plan and billing; the plan then stays in force to the end of the period already paid for. If a renewal payment fails, Paddle retries it; if it cannot be collected, the workspace returns to the free plan. Nothing in your workspace is deleted when a plan ends. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.
Our intellectual property
We own FlarePath, its software, design and the work we add to the public record. These terms give you a right to use the service, not ownership of any of it. The public records themselves remain public.
Availability
We work to keep FlarePath available and correct, but it is provided “as is” and we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors. We may change or improve features; we will not remove a core feature of a plan you have paid for during the period paid for.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account or workspace for a material breach of these terms, non-payment, a security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious misuse. Where we can, we will tell you first. You may delete your account at any time from your Account page. What is deleted with it is described in our privacy notice; the owner of a workspace that others still use hands it to another member first, or deletes the whole workspace, with every account in it, from the Workspace page.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions made using the service, and our total liability to you in any twelve months is limited to the fees you paid us in that period. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Law and changes
These terms are governed by [the laws of India, with the courts of Hyderabad, Telangana having jurisdiction]. We may update them; we will give notice in the service before a material change takes effect, and continued use after that means you accept the change.
